FAQ's

 

What kind of warranty do you provide?

 

All contracted work undertaken by Capital Building & Design have a 7 year structural warranty and a 2 year aesthetic warranty. 

What areas do you work in?

 

We service the North Shore, the Northern Beaches, the Eastern Suburbs and the Inner West. 

What type of insurance do you have?

 

We have home owners warranty and public liability insurance

What type of construction work do you do?

 

We specialise in new builds, additions and renovations. 

Can we live in the house whilst our home renovation or home extension is being completed?

 

This is a very common question, and it usually depends on the extent of work and the layout of your home. We can advise the most practical approach to living in your home during your renovation or extension. We make every effort to minimise any inconvenience to you and your family.

What approvals do I need?

 

This depends on the scope of work and provisions put in place by your local council. We suggest contacting your local council and seeking advise. 

How will you keep me informed?

 

Whether you have engaged us to construct a new home, carry out renovation work or install a new deck, we will keep you informed at every stage of the process by either site meetings, e-mail or telephone throughout the project.

 

Our aim is to bring your visions to life which is impossible without great communication.

 

We will endeavour to keep you informed every step of the way and work with you to ensure everything we do meets your individual requirements.

How long does it take to renovate a bathroom?

 

Generally the average bathroom renovation take around 3 weeks. However, if the design is of an unusal nature it may take longer.

Do you require a depost prior to work commencing?

 

If the project is greater than $20,000, a 10% depost must be paid prior to work commencing. 

How quickly can work commence once I have received council approval?
 
Generally work can commence within 2 weeks of council approval.

 

Do you work with trades I have personally selected?
 
Capital Building & Design has a team of highly skilled, certified tradespeople. We use the same trades on each project, this has helped to develop a great rapport amidst the team. 

 

How do you deal with waste management?
 
By accurately measuring and ordering our materials we reduce construction waste. This in turn reduces landfill and wasted energy from the production process. We also encourage recycling and re-use of existing materials where possible. This reduces costs for our Clients, produces a cleaner and safer work site and leads to a cleaner world.

 

Can we supply any of the fixtures ourselves?
 
This is a common query. There are few if any benefits to clients providing their own fixtures. The savings we can achieve are usually far greater than clients can get themselves (even if they ‘know’ someone), and they don’t need to worry about insurance, storage, incomplete parts etc. We’re always happy to discuss this if the client wishes.
How much do you charge for a quote?
 
We do not charge for the initiall consulatation or the estimate of project costs. However we do charge a nominal fee for an itemised quote for large scale projects (new builds and large renovations)
